When will there be 100% coverage for everyone?
The Reaching 100% (R100) programme builds on the success of the DSSB programme. The 100% target will be met as a result of three strands of activity - the R100 contracts, our R100 Scottish Broadband Voucher Scheme and continued commercial coverage.
The contracts we have signed with BT go beyond our superfast commitment by providing a significant amount of full fibre (or fibre to the premises) connections capable of delivering gigabit speeds.
The fact that much of the technology delivered will go beyond our original commitment means that the civil engineering works will take time.
Anyone whose home or business broadband speed is less than 30 Megabits per second (Mbps), and where there are no plans to bring superfast broadband to their address by the end of 2021, will be eligible for a voucher through our R100 Scottish Broadband Voucher Scheme.
Properties that are not expected to receive a connection through either the R100 contracts or commercial investment will be eligible for a main voucher, offering a subsidy worth up to £5,000 per property. The main voucher is also specifically designed to allow vouchers in a community to be combined to extend available funding.
Properties where superfast broadband roll-out is planned, but unlikely to be delivered until after 31 December 2021, will be eligible for an interim voucher, offering a subsidy worth up to £400 to deliver a temporary connection. The voucher can be used to access a range of technologies such as fixed wireless, mobile or satellite.
Vouchers are helping many to get superfast speeds
The R100 Scottish Broadband Voucher Scheme can provide help in the form of a one-off £400 voucher to access better speeds while you’re waiting for your main superfast connection through R100. Applications for interim vouchers must be received by 31 March 2022.
For others, there could be £5000 available which can be used to fit a new faster broadband supply.

Faster broadband — the journey so far…
The DSSB programme has brought access to fibre broadband to more than 950,000 homes and businesses across Scotland so far and will reach even more this year. Over 95% of premises in Scotland can now benefit from faster speeds, supporting businesses, healthcare and learning and connecting families, friends and communities. Without DSSB only around 66%, and in some areas less than 30%, of premises would have had fibre access.
The programme has been a tremendous success, helping to cement Scotland’s digital future, and the infrastructure that has been built will provide high-quality connectivity in Scotland and an outstanding platform for the next stage of the superfast journey — towards reaching 100%.
DSSB has been estimated to deliver over £2.76 billion over 15 years for the Scottish economy with every £1 of public funding being expected to deliver £12 of benefits to the Scottish economy.

Thousands of people have already signed up and are benefiting from their faster broadband speeds now. But remember, an upgrade to faster fibre doesn’t happen automatically you have to contact an internet service provider (ISP) and ask for an upgrade to fibre.
