Scottish Broadband Voucher Scheme
Our commitment to provide 100% superfast broadband access will be delivered through three strands of activity – the Reaching 100% (R100) contracts, connections delivered by commercial providers, and the R100 Scottish Broadband Voucher Scheme (SBVS).
The SBVS will ensure that every address in Scotland has the ability to access a superfast broadband connection, regardless of whether or not it will ultimately receive a superfast connection through a voucher.
The SBVS is a ‘one-off’ subsidy worth up to £5,000 to help deliver a permanent broadband connection to those properties for which there is no roll-out of superfast broadband planned.
In some cases, rural addresses may be eligible to combine Scottish Government funding of up to £5,000 with funding from the UK Government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme which provides £1,500 for rural homes and £3,500 for rural businesses. If this is the case, chosen suppliers take this into account automatically and manage this on your behalf.
Types of Technology
There are a number of technology types which a voucher can be used for:
- Full fibre (Fibre to the Premises/ Home (FTTP/H))
- Fixed wireless
- Fixed mobile or cellular broadband (e.g. 4G)
The technology type chosen will depend on what is available in your area balanced with a choice of what meets the property requirements. It is important to remember that although you may have a preferred technology type there are no guarantees that it is available in your local area.
How to apply
Find out if you are eligible for a voucher by entering your details into the online checker. If the checker indicates that you are eligible for a superfast voucher through the SBVS, use the tables below to find registered suppliers that currently operate commercially in your area and the type of connection(s) they may be able to offer you. Remember the tables below are an indication of where a supplier has existing commercial coverage - it is not a guarantee that a supplier will be able to serve your address.
