If you don’t have a reliable broadband connection, getting online can be an issue and for some people, costs to upgrade a service may become too expensive.
As part of the Scottish Government’s commitment to enable superfast broadband access to everyone in Scotland our national R100 Scottish Broadband Voucher Scheme (SBVS) is offering all eligible homes and businesses – no matter the location – help towards the cost of a better internet connection.
Through two types of subsidy – £400 interim voucher and a £5,000 main voucher – eligible premises could benefit from an uplift to faster speeds.
For Jennifer Adams, from Duffus in Moray, an interim voucher has successfully transformed home and working life.
Jennifer said: “Better broadband has made such a difference while working from home, especially during this pandemic. I can hear and see people clearly when making conference calls or attending webinars and downloading materials is easy. I would often travel to Edinburgh and across Moray for meetings and now with reliable video-conferencing, I can continue having them online."
Jennifer added: “With quicker internet speeds, I can upload videos for the local community and my church. My son is also able to complete his homework and download resources after school.
“As a family we’re able to stream films, watch programmes and download games together. It got quite stressful when there was not enough bandwidth to have everyone online at the same time and now we can.
“Having a good internet connection has enabled homeworking, quality family time together and a chance to learn online. I would encourage everyone to apply for a voucher – superfast speeds have made such a difference.”
The R100 SBVS scheme is still open for applications. You can check your eligibility for both main and interim vouchers by visiting our online address checker.
